Stephanie’s due date was yesterday and today she turns exactly 2 weeks old. Will and I have had a fantastic 2 weeks with her. She has been home for 1 week and 1 day and I think we’re going quite well except that I was quite sick for a 48 hour period last Wednesday when I got Mastitis. My temperature was 39.9 degrees and I thought I had the flu, so did my doctor, classic mistake but the Doc should have known better. Luckily the maternal health nurse came for her first visit, saw that I was sick, checked my bosoms and told me straight away what it was. I was so relieved as I was worried that Stephanie or Will would catch the flu, of course they can’t get mastitis!!
We’ve taken to calling Stephanie “Perfect Girl” because she wakes every 4 hours on the dot feeds, hardly cries except when we change her nappy, she hates the cold, and then goes back to sleep. I feel quite relaxed except sometimes, especially at night, I get overwhelmed by worry, so scared that something will happen to her.
She’s so much more awake now at each feed and she has the cutest little gestures and smiles and looks. Will and I have fun trying to guess what her eye colour will be. This morning after I fed her she lay with me in bed and looked around and just hung out. The we popped her into bed for a delicious sleep. I feel so in love with her like when you’re at school and you like a boy and think about them all the time and want to doodle their name all over your school books and draw love hearts. I love Stephanie, forever.
